The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth seeks for candidates for site nurse and health assistant positions at our 24 program locations in the United States, including programs in California.
CTY nurses, like camp and school nurses, have clinical and administrative responsibilities. Site nurses review student medical information, dispense medications students bring with them to site, confer with parents, assess and treat student illnesses and injuries, and document student health care and referrals. Site nurse salary for a seven-week period ranges from $7,000 to $8,600, depending upon license and experience. At residential sites, nurses receive housing and meals on campus in addition to salary.
Pre-license students are strong candidates for health assistant. At residential sites, health assistants work closely with the site nurses and site director and participate in the day-to-day operation of the student health office. They provide basic first aid and TLC, keep track of students' medications, and drive students to medical appointments. Health assistants must be at least 21 years of age and have a good driving record, as they are required to drive site vehicles. Salary for a seven-week period begins at $3200, and health assistants receive housing and meals on campus in addition to salary.
