Welcome to the Harris College of Nursing & Health SciencesSusan Weeks

The Harris College is vibrant and thriving with relevant programs, innovative curricula, and students and faculty who are making a difference for others. The Harris College houses Nursing, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Kinesiology, Nurse Anesthesia, and Social Work, and is home to over 1200 undergraduate students, 384 graduate students, 90 full time faculty, 36 staff, and numerous part time field and clinical faculty.

The Harris College supports the mission, vision, and values of TCU. Our graduates are prepared to think and practice as ethical leaders health care and educational settings. Students have learning experiences in campus laboratories, hospitals, clinics, schools, fitness facilities, and community service agencies. The Dallas-Fort Worth area offers a rich array of clinical practice sites. The on-campus Miller Speech and Hearing Clinic provides services for over 300 families per year and serves as a professional practice site for students majoring in speech pathology and habilitation of the deaf. Our graduates are competent, compassionate, and in demand in the workforce.

Faculty and students actively engage in research for the purpose of improving health and well-being. Undergraduate and graduate students have opportunities to work with faculty as they conduct studies in such areas as pharmacogenetics, carbohydrate metabolism, exercise physiology, heart disease, aging, stuttering, caregiving, grand parenting, and forgiveness.

The TCU Center for Evidence Based Practice and Research: A Collaborating Center of the Joanna Briggs Institute provides an opportunity for vibrant, collaborative learning and research by faculty and students interacting with real world healthcare practice problems through training opportunities and faculty experts who serve as consultants to area organizations.

Established in 2007, in part with a gift from UT Southwestern Moncrief Cancer Foundation, the Center for Oncology Education and Research provides opportunities for interdisciplinary, collaborative learning and research between university faculty, students and community partners regarding cancer care and survivorship concerns.
Our programs are built upon and through the liberal arts, offered in a context that embraces ecumenism, free inquiry, and respect for individuals and their beliefs. We are convinced that a broad education contributes to success in practice, education, and research.

I am pleased to introduce you to the Harris College and invite you to get to know us better. I urge you to review our website, visit the beautiful TCU campus, and talk with faculty and students. We are learning to make a difference!
