    Degree Overview:

    Frontier Nursing University offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program that allows you to complete your MSN – to become a nurse-midwife, family nurse practitioner, women’s health care nurse practitioner or psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner – with the added option to seamlessly progress to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.

    • Full or part-time options available.
    • Earn your MSN to become a nurse-midwife, family nurse practitioner, women’s health care nurse practitioner or psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. You’ll then have the option to exit the program with your MSN or to take an additional 19 credit hours to complete the Companion DNP.

    Degree Overview:

    The PM-DNP program at Frontier Nursing University (FNU) advances the leadership skills of practitioners in primary care practice. Candidates for the PM-DNP program at FNU hold national certification in one of the following specialty areas:

    • adult nurse practitioner (ANP)
    • certified nurse-midwife (CNM)
    • family nurse practitioner (FNP)
    • geriatric-adult nurse practitioner (GANP)
    • geriatric nurse practitioner (GNP)
    • pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP)
    • psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP)
    • women’s health care nurse practitioner (WHCNP)

    PM-DNP Program Design:

    The goal of the PM-DNP program is to improve health care outcomes and the delivery of primary health through enhanced nursing leadership. Our focus is on rural and underserved populations. The PM-DNP offers:

    • Distance education setting allowing you to remain in your own community
    • Full or part-time options (12-18 months)
    • Focus on health care issue of your choice for the DNP project
    • One 4-day on-campus experiences (orientation before beginning the program)
    • Small cohort of 20-25 students

  • + Post-Graduate Certificate (PGC) Program

    Location: Campus and Online

    Degree Overview:

    The PGC is an excellent option if you wish to specialize in an area not obtained in your original graduate studies. FNU’s program may be a good fit for you if you wish to add a certification in one of the following specialties:

    • Nurse-Midwife
    • Family Nurse Practitioner
    • Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner
    • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

    You must have a master’s or higher degree in nursing and currently hold national certification in one of the following advanced practice registered nurse specialties to apply to the PGC:

    • Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
    • Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM)
    • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
    • Geriatric-Adult Nurse Practitioner (GANP)
    • Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (GNP)
    • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)
    • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
    • Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner (WHCNP)
    • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
    • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)

    Graduates of other types of nursing master’s programs may apply for transfer credit but are not eligible for the PGC option.

    FNU offers the Post-Graduate Certificate program with the option to seamlessly continue on to the DNP curriculum without reapplying. Upon completing the PGC curriculum, you will be fully prepared to take the national certification exam in your given area of study. At this juncture, you can leave the program with your PGC or continue on to the DNP.

  • + ADN Bridge Entry Option

    Location: Campus and Online

    Degree Overview:

    An entry option for registered nurses with an ADN as their highest degree earned who wish to become a nurse-midwife,family nurse practitioner, or psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. Earn a MSN with the added option to seamlessly progress to the Doctor of NursingPractice (DNP) degree.

    The purpose of the first year as a Bridge student is to bridge the knowledge gap between the ADN and MSN educational requirements and to prepare you for entering the master’s program; no bachelor’s degree will be awarded upon completing this first year.
