Mission

The San Francisco State University School of Nursing aims to motivate and educate undergraduate and graduate nursing students to meet the healthcare needs of individuals, families, and communities. Faculty has a passion for teaching using a rich variety of educational methods. We embrace the diversity of our student population, and are committed to educating nurses who serve diverse populations with a focus on social and environmental justice, and health equality. Furthermore, we incorporate evidence-based nursing knowledge, ethical decision-making, and sound clinical judgment into our educational paradigm. Using various educational modalities that include state of the art information technologies, students learn how to provide safe, quality patient-centered care. Our students are prepared to adapt to changing healthcare needs and environments and to serve society through civic engagement and lifelong learning.

The School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).

    The Fellowship Programs provide broad exposure to the opportunities and challenges present when managing a large, fully integrated, health maintenance organization. Students with a degree conferred from July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018 are eligible to apply.

    The Online Application Portal will be available in early August 2017. Please note that separate applications should be submitted for the Northern California, Southern California and Northwest Regions. Required application materials include: Official Graduate School Transcript(s), Resume, Statement of Purpose/Essays, Letters of Recommendation (Professional and Academic). To be considered, applications must be completed and all application materials received by September 29, 2017. Early submissions are strongly encouraged. Their selection process begins early in October and moves quickly; therefore, they ask that you, if selected, be available for on-site interviews in late October.
