Mission

The San Francisco State University School of Nursing aims to motivate and educate undergraduate and graduate nursing students to meet the healthcare needs of individuals, families, and communities. Faculty has a passion for teaching using a rich variety of educational methods. We embrace the diversity of our student population, and are committed to educating nurses who serve diverse populations with a focus on social and environmental justice, and health equality. Furthermore, we incorporate evidence-based nursing knowledge, ethical decision-making, and sound clinical judgment into our educational paradigm. Using various educational modalities that include state of the art information technologies, students learn how to provide safe, quality patient-centered care. Our students are prepared to adapt to changing healthcare needs and environments and to serve society through civic engagement and lifelong learning.

The School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).

This position provides great exposure to the healthcare field. You will work directly with ophthalmologists (glaucoma specialists), optometrists, and patients. You will learn about eye medications, how to screen patients, and take full medical histories, as well as how to work closely with pharmacies and insurance companies. Punctuality and willingness to learn is a must. While experience is a plus, full training is available.

    Responsibilities include:
    • Greeting and checking in patients
    • Answering multi-line phone calls
    • Addressing incoming faxes
    • Renewing prescription authorizations
    • Scheduling patient appointments
    • Verifying patient insurances
    • Filing and managing patient charts
    • Assisting with special projects and duties as assigned
    • Screen patients and take medical histories
    • Facilitating communication between patients and doctors

    The qualified candidate will have:
    • Excellent communication, customer service, and multitasking skills
    • The ability to work independently and as a team in a fast paced environment
    • Good common sense
    • Good computer skills

    Pay rate is determined based on experience and ideally we’re looking for someone who is available 4-5 days a week M-Fri and occasional Saturdays.

    Our Occupational Medicine Group, Co Occupational Medical Partners, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team. Our group is an established, physician-owned and well-respected provider of occupational medicine in the Northern California Central Valley. Co Occupational Medical Partners has clinic locations in Stockton, Manteca, and Tracy, California.
    The position is strictly outpatient with no hospital duties and no on-call responsibilities. The position is full time but we will consider part time initially based on your schedule. You will be based mainly in one of our modern, state-of-the-art centers but may occasionally be called upon to assist one of your colleagues in a nearby center. The hours of operation of our practice are weekdays only and you will not work evenings, weekends, or major holidays. The patient population is composed of working adults only so there are no pediatrics or OB-GYN type of patients.

    • Occasional travel to other clinics

    EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
    Previous occupational medicine experience would be preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate. Most of our current NPs and PAs trained with us.
