    38th Annual Conference
    International Association for Human Caring
    Edmonton, Alberta, Canada | May 31, 2017 to June 02, 2017
Rediscovering Love & Compassion: In Caring Practice and in Caring Science

This is an annual event hosted by the International Association for Human Caring (IAHC) and held in different locations. This year the conference is held in Edmonton, Alberta,
Canada. Attended by different prominent nursing personalities from the academe and clinical practice. Numerous nursing theorists attended the event. It was really an opportunity to meet and speak with them. This organization was I would describe as truly representing the mission, caring. Being here makes me realize that nursing is really a caring family.
When I came to the U.S. I have prepared a five—year career plan. Part of this plan was to present my research in at least one international conference. Earlier this year, in March, I received an email from the president of the IAHC, Dr. Patrick Dean, stating that my paper was accepted for paper presentation. Overwhelmed with the news, I have hurriedly looked into my research, checked and prepared it for the presentation. This opportunity is finally at my hands. I was really thankful and blessed.
The day has finally come: It’s May 31, 2017. Today, I will be presenting my research entitled International Caring Behavior Index Deduced from Different Voices. This research is qualitative and explored the caring behaviors of nurses from select participants such as registered nurses (RN), patients (PTS), and other healthcare professionals (OHP). I used interview among the participants and also conducted a focus group discussion (FGD). The results yield six (6) international caring behaviors: 1. perform patient—centric care; 2. express affinitive behavior; 3. exhibit reverence to individualities; 4. practice excellent work principles; 5. exude wisdom—built presence; and 6. demonstrate professional influence.
During my presentation, I had audiences who were from different institutions from different countries. One of the milestones of this presentation was that one audience approached me proposed to do a collaborative work about this research.
Overall, this experience has made a better person again and inspired me to continue my mission in love and compassion. The nursing leaders, theorists, authors—the influential personalities in nursing—will continue to give me more reason to further my mission and reach for my Vision.
