NURSES LOUNGE PROFESSIONAL NETWORK HIRES
REGIONAL PUBLISHER AND EXPANDS INTO FLORIDA
Dallas, TX – April 19, 2011 – Nurses Lounge, an online professional network for nurses, announced Cam Brown has been hired as the Florida publisher for its Northeast, Central and South Florida territories.
As a regional publisher for Nurses Lounge (www.nurseslounge.com) Brown will work with Florida nursing schools, state and local nurse associations, hospitals and other organizations to develop their utilization of the Nurse Lounge online network. Interactive groups created for each organization are used by the colleges, hospitals and others to disseminate news and information directly to their members and the approximately 175,000 registered nurses in the region.
“We are very enthusiastic to have someone of Cam’s publishing and writing experience join our team,” says Tim Armes, CEO and Founder of the Nurses Lounge, “especially in a market as large and fast growing as Florida.”
“Florida is the fourth largest nursing market in the United States, so I’m especially thrilled to be in on the development of Nurses Lounge.” says Brown. “We provide nurses, hospitals and universities with the online platform to seamlessly communicate on a professional level as well as allow organizations to control their own content.”
Brown was most recently publisher of the Jacksonville, Florida, edition MD News, a B2B content publishing magazine for physicians. She has more than 25 years experience in magazine publishing, healthcare and writing.
With Brown in place as regional publisher, development of the Nurses Lounge network with universities, hospitals and nurses is expected to be rapid with a large increase of activity and influx of Florida nursing professionals to its membership..
Brown will be based out of Jacksonville, Florida. Part of the first group of publishers hired by Nurses Lounge, she is helping the company with its expansion throughout the United States from its origins in the Texas market where it launched 2 years ago.
History of Nurses Lounge
Nurses Lounge (www.nurseslounge.com), a wholly owned subsidiary of MedCareers Group, Inc., grew out of a nine-year-old nursing publication and web portal. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Nurses Lounge began operations in Atlanta, Georgia, as a Nurse web portal in the 1990's. Timothy Armes, founder of Jobs.com, acquired the portal site in 2002 and moved the operation to Dallas where Armes also launched a successful direct mail companion magazine reporting on the local nursing profession. The website has been enhanced to become a more social-oriented network for nurses. It was re-launched in mid-2009 as a professional network for nurses and designed as a more efficient way for nurse organizations to communicate not only to their members but to the nursing profession at large.
